Mary Gage Peterson Elementary is a Chicago Public Elementary School in the North Park neighborhood of Chicago.

We are home to a diverse community where 43 languages are spoken. Many of our families are immigrants and refugees who have made Chicago their home. As we find ourselves in an especially difficult time, many of our families have been affected particularly strongly by COVID-19, many without access to government relief.

This is a community-driven effort to support our neighbors. By raising funds to support Peterson families that find themselves in need, we can continue to support the whole student by supporting the needs of our families. By providing families with the option to receive cash, we can provide flexibility and empower families to spend the received funds in ways that best support their needs. While there are many programs and organizations in the city available to provide assistance to families, there are few in our North Park community, and we see this as an immediate and important opportunity for the Peterson community to gather together to support our students and families with direct financial assistance.

100% of donations will be used to provide direct assistance to Peterson families to help pay for items like rent, utilities, diapers, groceries, healthcare, and other necessities.
